Ballinasloe Town Progress to Last 16

F.A.I National Cup Rd 7. (Last 32).

Ballinasloe Town AFC (2) Vs Castlebar Celtic (0).
Mike Lynch & Alan Duffy.

Ballinasloe Town advanced to the Last 16 in Ireland when they beat Castlebar Celtic in the Curragh on Sunday by 2-0, Ballinasloe started the brighter and were rewarded when a well worked free kick lead to Lynch powering home a header in the 1st min, The Town Defense stood well and handled everything Celtic could throw at them to leave Ballinasloe 1 up at the Break. Ballinasloe started the 2nd half very well and after just a min played a Darragh Concannon free kick found Mike Lynch at the back post to pull it back to Alan Duffy to poke home leaving the home side 2 goals to the good, after that Castlebar pushed hard to get back into the game but the back 4 of Lynch, Gary EganDavid Cullen & Declan ImageDuffy were superb and failing that Bubba Fallon was in super form between the Sticks making some great saves when he was called on, Mark Duffy & Alan Duffy both lead from the front today and made it very difficult for the visitors and the Excellent midfield of Darragh Concannon (Who was Unlucky from a Dead ball)Micheal GreaneyAidan Dooney & Shane Treacy were excellent and worked extremely hard. A Hard fought game in Tough Conditions Well Done to All Involved. A Word of Mention for Pat Campbell and Brendan McNally who had their work cut out with Atrocious Weather the last few days but had the Pitch looking very well and more importantly playable..

Some News from the Soccer club from over the Weekend

Senior News:
With the 2nd Squad not out this Weekend & the 1st Team receiving a Walkover from Sligo Side Achill Rovers in the Connaught Cup 3rd Round tie, There has been some preparations for Sundays (Last 32 in Ireland) F.A.I National Cup game Vs Castlebar Celtic in the Curragh. The Squad have been Training and preparing all week and Sundays game should be a real cracking cup tie. Kick Off in the Curragh will be at 2pm and All Support will be welcomed.
A.D.S.L News:
Only one Game survived the weather struck weekend where our U12 A Squad took on St Josephs in the Curragh Grounds on Saturday, Ballinasloe started the brighter of the two side creating chance after chance but Unfortunately it was the Away side who took the lead though a well taken free kick lead to a free header to put the Athlone side one up against the run of play, But Ballinasloe never gave up and still creating all the chances it looked as if it was going to be one of those days until Jordan Carr popped up with a Equalizer with 2 mins to go. A Great Battling effort from the U12 premier squad who should have sealed all 3 points from this game. All Good preparation fro there Feb 2nd Trip to Kerry to play Killarney Celtic in the Last 32 of the S.F.A.I U12 Danone National Cup.
